Getting Omar BACK, a Trade Proposal...

[Alex]

If the Indians don't pull out ot their funk by May 15th, I'd offer Arthur Rhodes to the Giants for Omar Vizquel. The Giants lost their closer for perhaps the rest of the season the other day.

Subtract Rhodes contract from Omar's and you get Omar back for a very affordable amount. I know the Rhodes contract was in trade for Matt Lawton's contract, so in essence it's Matt Lawton's final year of his contract towards Omar's 3 year deal. Either way, Omar's contract becomes affordable.

I'd then put Peralta at third and Omar at shortstop. Instant infusion of bat control in the line-up, we upgrade at both shortstop and third base and get back our clubhous vet.

I'll miss Rhodes, he looks really good this year, but we're talking a loss of two runs a game over last year, and the top of the line-up chemistry really crys out for Omar's bat, not too mention his fielding.

Since Pittsburgh is paying Rhodes salary next year, San Fran would pick up Omar's contract in an equal amount to what Pittsburgh is paying us.
